Biography:
15th professional season. Heading into the season, Wilson had played in 375 NHL games, scoring 53 goals and adding 66 assists for 119 points, while compiling 352 penalty minutes. In 2008-09, Wilson split time between Dallas and Grand Rapids (AHL), playing a total of 42 games combined. In 27 games with the Stars, the veteran winger scored two goals and set up six others for eight points. In 15 games with Grand Rapids, the right wing scored eight times and set up seven others for a total of 15 points. Wilson also amassed 37 penalty minutes with the Griffins. In 2007-08, Wilson played 30 games with HC Lugano of Nationalliga (Switzerland), scoring 20 points (13-7-20) with 67 PIM. Was limited to 30 games due to an ankle injury, yet still led the team in goals. He appeared in three playoff games, scoring four goals. In 2006-07, Wilson appeared in 35 games with HC Lugano, scoring 20 goals and adding 11 assists with 67 PIM. He played in 36 games for Davos (Swiss) in 2005-06, scoring 27 goals and adding 14 assists for a total of 41 points with 127 penalty minutes. He also played in 11 playoff games (5-3-8). In 2004-05, he played for Espoo in the Finnish Elite League, scoring eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points in 37 games. In 2003-04, Wilson split time with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Phoenix Coyotes, scoring a combined 6-4-10 points with 47 penalty minutes. He was limited to 31 games with Phoenix in 2002-03 because of an eye injury. Wilson was nominated for the 2003 NHL Foundation Player Award (for community service), as well as The Sporting News 2003 Good Guys Award and the USA Weekend Most Caring Athlete Award. He was the Coyotes’ nominee for the King Clancy Award. Wilson played for Team USA at the 2001 World Championships in Germany, scoring 1-1-2 points in nine games. He was named First-Team AHL All-Star with Providence in 1991. Had a 7-point game (3-4-7) with Providence on Nov. 25 vs. Syracuse. In 1997-98, split season between Boston and Providence. In 1996-97, split the season between Colorado, Boston and Providence. In 1995-96, split the season between Colorado and Cornwall (AHL). He played his first 7 NHL games with Colorado. Wilson scored his first NHL goal on his first shot in his first NHL game on Nov. 29 vs. New Jersey. He turned professional in 1994-95. After his sophomore season at the University of North Dakota, he joined Cornwall for the final eight games of the regular season. He played two seasons at the University of North Dakota (WCHA) totaling 66 games, 25 goals, 31 assists, 56 points with 286 penalty minutes. INTERNATIONAL CAREER: Played seven games for Team USA at the World Juniors in 1994-95.
