What type of commitment is required to be a Texas Stars Ice Girl?

Total commitment! The role of a Texas Stars Ice Girl requires more than just skating or dancing. We are looking for a diverse group of women to represent our Hockey Club who demonstrate class, poise, self-confidence, beauty and good communication skills. You are expected to act like a lady at all times, on and off the ice. There are 38+ regular home games and you are required to attend ALL home games and ALL playoff home games. You are also required to attend ALL rehearsals starting in August through the end of the season. Rehearsals are typically 1-2 times per week.

What are the requirements to be a Texas Stars Ice Girl?

  • 18 years of age on or before July 16th 2011 
  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • If selected, must reside in Austin or surrounding areas
  • Reliable means of transportation 
  • Attend college or hold a part-time/full-time job
  • Attend ALL rehearsals, (38+) home games and home playoff games
  • Attend a variety of personal appearances
  • Good public speaking ability
 

Is there an age requirement?

You must be 18 years of age on or before July 16th 2011. There is no maximum age limit. 


Is being a Texas Ice Girl a full-time job?

No, most Ice Girls attend college or hold part-time or full-time jobs. However, being an ice girl is time consuming and requires dedication and passion.


Are there any height & weight requirements?

There are NO specific requirements; however you must look physically fit and toned in your dancewear and our uniform. You will be required to maintain your figure.


What does it take to become a Texas Stars Ice Girl?

Our judges will focus on the following:

  • Physical Fitness
  • Poise
  • Communication Skills
  • Energy
  • Personal Appearance
  • Texas Stars Hockey knowledge/current events

Will I need to know how to skate?

No, skating ability is preferred but not required.


What should I wear to Auditions?

2-piece attire:   
TOP: Dance Athletic Top/Bra Top

BOTTOM: Fitted Shorts (NO PANTS)
 
-Skin Colored Dance Tights/Nude or Black Dance Shoes

-Warm-ups (for lounging and panel interview)









How should I wear my hair?

Your hairstyle should be current and compliment your features and should not hide your face.


Are tattoos or body piercings allowed?

You must completely cover any tattoos and body piercings must not be visible while in the Ice Girls uniform ever. No Exceptions!  


How should I wear my make-up and nails?


Your make-up should compliment your natural beauty. Nails should be well manicured and painted with a French manicure or a neutral shade of polish.


What do I need to bring to auditions?

  • Drivers License for identification (required)
  • Personal items such as make-up, flat iron/curling iron, etc.
  • Water, snacks and a lunch (it will be a long day)
  • Extra tights or audition attire, just in case!


What can I expect at the Texas Stars Ice Girls Auditions? ** UPDATED 7/1/11 **

Preliminary Phase: Saturday July 16th

  • Registration will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16th
  • Check in and receive your competition number
  • Get your photo taken
  • You will learn a dance combination  
  • Once competition begins, you will introduce yourself to the judges and perform the dance combination in groups of 5
  • Judges retire to make decision for semi-finalists
  • Callback numbers will be posted immediately following the first day for those selected to return the next day for semi- finals.

Semi-Final Phase: Sunday July 17th 

  • Registration will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 17th
  • Check in and receive your new competition number
  • Written test on Texas Stars Hockey Knowledge and Current Events
  • Perform the dance combination from preliminaries for the judges in groups of 5
  • Panel Interview with judges. We will focus on your interactive/ communicative skills. Please wear warm-ups to interview.
  • Photo Shoot 
  • Announce Finalists
  • Brief meeting to discuss expectations for finals dates

Tuesday-Thursday July 19th-21st 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. @ Cedar Park Center

Friday July, 22nd - Body Work Class - 10 AM @ MA Studio

Friday, July 22nd, - 7 - 9 PM Finals @ MA Studio


Other Important Dates if selected as a 2011 Texas Stars Ice Girl:Heidi use this one.jpg ** UPDATED 7/1/11 **

Tuesday, August 2nd: First meeting, 7:00 p.m. @ Cedar Park Center (MANDATORY)

Friday, August 5th: First Rehearsal, 7:00 p.m. @ MA Studio (MANDATORY)

(You will be given a rehearsal schedule at that time.)

(Rehearsals will begin immediately following training camp/final auditions.)


Can my family watch auditions?

No. Auditions are closed to the public.



When and Where do the Texas Stars Ice Girls Rehearse?

  • Rehearsals will begin immediately after final auditions @ MA Dance Project (in the Railyard) Cedar Park, TX, which is the official training studio for the Texas Stars Ice Girls throughout the season. 
  • Rehearsals are 1-2 times per week.
  • Weekly practices are typically held on Sunday’s from 4:00-7:00 p.m. @ MA Dance Project and other dates as needed throughout the season for special performances.
  • All rehearsals are MANDATORY throughout the season and playoffs.

How Will I Know If My Application Received?

You will receive an email to confirm the receipt of your application. Candidates must use an email address for communication.


If not selected as a Texas Stars Ice Girl, may I call the Texas Stars Office to receive my judge’s comments.

No. The judges sheets and comments are not kept on file. You must re-apply each year and submit the application fee.


If I am a returning Texas Stars Ice Girl, do I need to re-audition and re-apply?

Yes. You must always re-audition and re-apply, even if you are a previous Ice Girl. No exceptions!
