Texas Hosts Milwaukee on Friday at 7:30 PM

Cedar Park, TX – The Texas Stars (11-7-0-0, 22 points) defeated the Houston Aeros (10-8-1-2, 23 points) 5-3 in front of 4,489 fans on Wednesday at Cedar Park Center. Texas center Aaron Gagnon scored twice on the night, helping the Stars build a 3-0 lead. Texas held on for the two-goal win behind goals by Fabian Brunnstrom, Travis Morin and Ondrej Roman. Defenseman Dan Spang and Colton Sceviour both had two assists, as Texas improved to 7-4-0-0 at home. Houston goalie Anton Khudobin (6-5-1) stopped five of eight shots in 16:46 of play and Matt Hackett (4-4-1) suffered the loss with 15 saves on 17 shots. Texas goalie Richard Bachman (6-2-0) stopped 25 shots and gained an assist in the victory. The Stars host the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday at 7:30 pm at Cedar Park Center.

The Stars scored midway through the first at 9:29 with a power-play goal by left wing Ondrej Roman. Maxime Fortunus and Mathieu Tousignant both assisted on the play to jump out to a 1-0 lead. Texas continued the scoring at 12:54 with a goal by center Aaron Gagnon. Forwards Francis Wathier and Colton Sceviour set up the goal giving the Stars a 2-0 lead. Gagnon struck again at 16:46, extending the lead to 3-0. Defenseman Dan Spang and Sceviour helped with assists to give Gagnon his second goal of the night. With 1:12 left in the first, Houston’s Maxim Noreau notched their first tally of the night on the power play to end the period 3-1 Texas.

The Stars opened the scoring up again at 3:59 of the second period with a goal from left wing Fabian Brunnstrom. Forwards Travis Morin and Greg Rallo assisted on the play to expand the lead 4-1. With a slap shot from the circle, Jon DiSalvatore scored the Aeros’ second goal on the power play at 11:12 with help from Jean-Michel Daoust and Cody Almond to make it 4-2. Texas scored its second power-play goal late in the period. Morin scored his seventh of the year with 44 seconds remaining to give the Stars a 5-2 edge.

Houston’s Jean-Michel Daoust scored the lone goal of the third at 5:56. His fourth goal of the season was assisted by Jon DiSalvatore and Maxim Noreau for the 5-3 final.

Texas will face Milwaukee on Friday, November 26th at 7:30 pm at Cedar Park Center. The first 2,500 fans will receive Texas Stars ear buds courtesy of Best Buy.
