Stars Foundation Donates $65,000 to Local Area Charities
CEDAR PARK, TX – The Texas Stars Foundation announced today the list of recipients for the 2013 Texas Stars Foundation Grants.
This year’s Foundation Grants totaled $65,000 and were awarded to 14 different local charities. The 2013 class of grant recipients are: Navy Seal Foundation, Faubion Elementary School PTA, Cancer Support Community Central Texas, Twilight High School–Leander ISD, Risk Management Department–Leander ISD, The Junior League of Austin, Sammy’s House, YMCA of Greater Williamson County, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Austin and Central Texas, Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas, STARRY, Inc., The Georgetown Project, Reveal Resource Center/Hill Country Nazarene Church and the American Lung Association of the Plains-Gulf Region.
“On behalf of the entire Texas Stars Foundation Board, I am very pleased to unveil the recipients of our second annual Foundation grants,” said Texas Stars president and Texas Stars Foundation chairman of the board Rick McLaughlin. “We are deeply committed in our support of charitable organizations in Central Texas, and beyond, and we are delighted with these wonderful recipients and the exceptional services they provide.”
A vast majority of these charitable organizations are located in the greater Central Texas area and the grant money they received from the Texas Stars Foundation will go towards a wide array of programs and projects that will directly affect over 32,275 children. They include supporting the Food In Tummies program, which gives backpacks of food to elementary students in Del Valle ISD each weekend, a literacy program for special needs children, supporting the RMHC family rooms specifically for the families of children in the neonatal intensive care unit and granting a Cedar Park child’s wish who is suffering from a life threatening disease.
The application period for the 2014 Texas Stars Foundation Grants should open in early 2014.
The Texas Stars Foundation is a registered 501c3 charitable organization dedicated to enhancing the community through various forms of support including financial contributions, gifts in kind and volunteerism. Formed in the summer of 2010, the Texas Stars Foundation is the official charity of the Texas Stars Hockey Club. The Foundation strives to utilize the talents and resources of the Texas Stars players, families, staff and ownership to enrich the greater central Texas area and military children throughout the United States.
Through its first three years of operation, the Texas Stars Foundation has supported hundreds of community programs and charitable organizations with donations in excess of $410,000. Major beneficiaries include but are not limited to: Cedar Park Veterans Memorial, 100 Club of Central Texas, Leander Independent School District, Dell Children’s Medical Center, Williamson County Animal Shelter, Heroes Night Out and Austin Disaster Relief Network.

After a rare week off, the Stars will travel to Oklahoma City on Tuesday, October 15th to face the Barons for a 7:00 p.m. face off at the Cox Convention Center. Texas will return to Cedar Park Center Saturday, October 19th as they host the San Antonio Rampage at 7:00 p.m. for another Coca-Cola Family Four Pack Night, a Texas Lottery Lucky Row Night and a Stars hockey puck giveaway presented by Austin Telco Federal Credit Union.
