Hockey Team extends Broadcast Deal for Third AHL Season, All Games Will Be on FM Stations

Cedar Park, TX – The Texas Stars and Border Media Group announced on Thursday a broadcast agreement for the 2011-12 American Hockey League season.

“The growth of the Texas Stars and the interest shown by fans in Central Texas during the first two seasons has been incredible”, said Sports Director Erin Hogan. “Whether it’s In the Cedar Park Center, in the community, or on the radio – the passion for the game of hockey has huge momentum, and we are thrilled to continue our partnership.”

The entire 76-game schedule will be heard on one of Border Media Group’s (BMG) ESPN radio affiliates, composed of 104.9 FM The Horn, 92.5 FM or ESPN 1530 AM. BMG’s flagship sports talk station, ESPN 104.9 FM The Horn, is slated to carry 40 of the games throughout the year. The remaining 36 games will be aired on The Horn or 92.5 FM. Texas Stars play-by-play voice, Josh Fisher returns for his third season behind the microphone. Fisher has called each of the Stars first two seasons, including the exciting run to the Calder Cup Finals in the spring of 2010. He is entering his 12th season in professional hockey and has called more than 900 games over that span.

Not only will Border Media Group carry all the broadcasts, hockey fans will be able to tune to 104.9 FM The Horn every Wednesday at 8:35 am for “On the Ice with the Texas Stars”, presented by Toyota. Once a week, a Texas Stars personality (players, GM, coaches or front office staff) will join Chip Brown and Erin Hogan for a weekly segment on the “Bud Light Morning Rush”. Fans will also be able to catch a Texas Stars personality once a week on “The Adams Theory”, a show hosted in the afternoons on 104.9 FM The Horn by Sean Adams and Ari Temkin.

“With all regular season games scheduled to air on Border Media Group’s FM stations, we feel we are giving our fans the best option to follow the team throughout the 2011-12 season”, said Texas Stars President Rick McLaughlin. “ESPN radio has been the home of Texas Stars hockey since day one and we are proud to extend our partnership.”
