TEXAS FALLS TO PEORIA IN FIRST LOSS OF THE SEASON 5-2
Stars Host Lake Erie on Friday

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars (2-1-0-0, 4 points) were defeated by the Peoria Rivermen (5-1-0-0, 10 points) 5-2 on Sunday in front of 3,400 fans at Cedar Park Center. The Rivermen scored four goals during the second period to push past the Stars. Texas left wing Scott McCulloch scored his fourth goal of the season in the defeat. Peoria center Dave Scatchard scored two goals on the night and goalie Ben Bishop stopped 40 Texas shots for the win. The Stars continue their five-game home stand with Lake Erie at 7:30 pm on Friday at Cedar Park Center.

The Stars scored early in the first period with a two-man advantage at 2:58. Center Travis Morin tallied his third goal of the year, assisted by left wing Francis Wathier and defenseman Philip Larsen. Texas forward Scott McCulloch scored at 7:48. The goal was set up by Severin Blindenbacher and Trevor Ludwig. Peoria notched its first goal of the night at 11:43, as center Dave Scatchard put in a rebound for the 2-1 score.

Peoria tied it up quickly in the second period with a goal at 1:44 by center Nicholas Drazenovic. Midway through the second, Peoria added another goal at 9:08 from Scatchard to take the lead 3-2. The Rivermen added another tally at 10:05, as Drazenovic made it 4-2 Peoria. Stars goalie Brent Krahn was pulled after the Peoria goal, finishing with 14 saves in 30 minutes of work. The Rivermen added one more goal prior to the end of the period. Center Phil McRae scored at 15:43 to end the second period with Peoria up 5-2.

Texas will host Lake Erie Friday at 7:30 pm. Every Friday, fans may purchase $3.00 domestic 12 oz drafts, $2.00 regular sodas and $1.00 hot dogs. The Stars will continue a five-game home stand next Saturday with the Peoria Rivermen on October 23rd at 7:00 pm. The first 2,500 fans receive a Texas Stars drawstring backpack courtesy of State Farm. Also, the State Farm Family Four pack is available for every Saturday home game at Cedar Park Center. Fans may purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for $44.00.
