Peoria, IL – The Texas Stars (10-2-1-2, 23 points) were defeated by the Peoria Rivermen (7-4-1-2, 17 points) 5-4 in overtime on Wednesday night in front of 3,835 fans at Carver Arena. Peoria defenseman Bryce Lampman scored his second goal of the night just 33 seconds into overtime to lift the Rivermen over the Stars. Texas forward Greg Rallo scored twice, as the Stars salvage a point and continue their streak of 14 games without a loss in regulation. Despite three assists from defenseman Brad Lukowich, the Stars had their five-game winning streak snapped. Texas goalie Matt Climie (4-1-1-2) suffered the overtime loss, stopping 32 Rivermen shots. Peoria goalie Hannu Toivonen (3-3-0-1) made 28 saves in the victory. Texas will play in Rockford on Friday at 7:05 pm before returning home to host Chicago on Saturday night at 7:00 pm.

The Stars struck early with the opening goal coming just 45 seconds into the game. Texas held the puck in the Peoria zone on a delayed penalty call. Left wing Francis Wathier found Greg Rallo at the top of the right-wing circle. Rallo snapped his team-leading seventh goal of the season past Rivermen goalie Hannu Toivonen for the 1-0 lead. Peoria answered back at 6:31 with a power-play goal, the first allowed on the road by Texas this season. Captain Yan Stastny put in a rebound for his fourth goal of the season and 1-1 score. Texas would stake claim to the lead for the second time in the period at 14:17. Center Aaron Gagnon centered a pass to the crease for defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy. The Stars blueliner tucked the puck into the Peoria net for his fourth goal of the season and a 2-1 Texas lead. Just over a minute later, the Rivermen countered to tie the game 2-2. At 15:33, forward Ryan Reaves redirected a shot from the point for his second goal of the season.

In the second period, the two teams traded a pair of goals. Peoria took its first lead of the game at 7:02. Defenseman Bryce Lampman feathered a shot from the point and into the back of the Texas net for his second goal of the season and a 3-2 Rivermen lead. Texas would tie the game 3-3 prior to the end of the period with a power-play tally. Defenseman Brad Lukowich ripped a shot to the net that Peoria goalie Hannu Toivonen stopped, but Toivonen could not control the rebound. Stars center Warren Peters stuffed in the loose puck for his second goal of the season at 15:33.

Texas regained the lead just 4:00 into the final period, as Rallo scored his second goal of the game with a one-timer from the top of the left-wing circle on the power play. Peoria countered midway through the period when Barry Tallackson scored off a centering pass from defenseman Tyson Strachan at 10:37. Tallackson’s third goal of the season tied the game 4-4 and forced an eventual overtime.
