Stars Sneak By Wolves 3-2 In OT
Stars Head to Oklahoma City Saturday, Return home Sunday to Host Rockford at 5:00 PM

Cedar Park, TX – The Texas Stars (40-24-4-6, 90 points) defeated the Chicago Wolves (38-28-4-6, 86 points) 3-2 in overtime in front of 5,710 fans at Cedar Park Center Friday night. Defenseman Philip Larsen scored the game-winning goal for Texas just 38 seconds into overtime, reducing the team’s magic number to clinch a playoff spot to four points. The win also extended the team’s streak to five straight. Right wing Colton Sceviour and defenseman Maxime Fortunus each tallied a goal in regulation on the night as Texas improved to 22-10-3-3 at home. Texas goalie Richard Bachman (27-16-5) stopped 29 of 31 shots for the win as Chicago outshot Texas 31-24. Defenseman Jaime Sifers and center Andre Deveaux each notched a goal in the Wolves loss. Chicago goalie Peter Mannino (16-16-4) stopped 21 shots for the loss. The Stars head to Oklahoma City for a 7:05 PM meeting with the Barons on Saturday night.

After a scoreless first period, Texas netted the first goal of the night as right wing Colton Sceviour slipped the puck past Mannino at 2:52 of the second period. Forwards Ray Sawada and Mathieu Tousignant each supplied an assist on the play for the 1-0 tally. Stars’ defenseman Maxime Fortunus scored on the power play with 4:04 remaining in the second frame. Forwards Francis Wathier and Greg Rallo each helped set up the goal, expanding the Stars lead to 2-0. Chicago cut into Texas’ lead with 2:26 left in the frame with a goal by defenseman Jaime Sifers. Forwards Spencer Machacek and Jared Ross each provided an assist to end the period 2-1 Texas.

Chicago center Andre Deveaux tied the game 2-2 just 3:43 into the third period. Defenseman Mark Matheson and center Jason Krog set up the power-play goal.

Texas defenseman Philip Larsen scored the game-winning goal just 38 seconds into overtime. Larsen’s goal went unassisted to push the Stars past the Wolves 3-2.

The Stars travel to Oklahoma City Saturday, April 2nd to face the Barons at 7:05 PM. Texas returns home to face the Rockford IceHogs Sunday, April 3rd at 5:00 PM. On Sunday, the Stars host Pucks and Paws Night sponsored by Banfield Pet Hospital. Fans are allowed to bring their dog to Cedar Park Center for $5 per dog. Those who are planning on attending with their dog must call 512-GO-STARS in advance for the specialty ticket. The first 2,500 will receive a Texas Stars pet bowl, compliments of Camp Bow Wow.
