In the second period, the Admirals tied the game 1-1 just 4:42 into the middle frame. Forward Dave Scatchard poked the puck to center ice and scooped it up for a breakaway. Scatchard moved in alone on Matt Climie and snapped a wrist shot past the Stars netminder for a shorthanded tally, his 15th goal of the year. The Admirals moved in front of Texas, taking a 2-1 lead at 14:55. Leading scorer Mike Santorelli made a cross-ice pass to Jonathan Blum. The Admirals defenseman beat Matt Climie with a wrist shot for his 11th goal of the year and a one-goal Milwaukee lead.

In the third period, defenseman Garrett Stafford found Aaron Gagnon on the left-wing boards through center ice. The Stars leading scorer carried the puck into the Milwaukee zone and snuck a backhand shot past Milwaukee goalie Chet Pickard for his 26th goal of the year and a 2-2 game at 13:09 of the third period.

The two teams would skate to a scoreless overtime and head into a shootout tied 2-2. Texas forwards Colton Sceviour, Travis Morin and Gagnon each netted goals in the shootout. Milwaukee’s Mike Santorelli and Alexander Sulzer scored in the shootout. Texas goalie Matt Climie stopped three of five, improving to 3-3 in shootouts this season.
