Texas Begins Seven-Game Road Trip in Rockford on Saturday

Cedar Park, TX – The Texas Stars (38-23-3-4, 83 Points) defeated the Milwaukee Admirals (35-25-1-6, 77 Points) 4-3 on Thursday night in front of 6,381 fans at Cedar Park Center. Stars center Aaron Gagnon, defenseman Andrew Hutchinson, and winger Francis Wathier each scored power-play goals to lift Texas to its fourth victory over the Admirals this season. Greg Rallo also scored as the Stars improved to 22-11-1-2 at home this year. Texas goalie Brent Krahn (13-2-0) stopped 26 of 29 Milwaukee shots in the win. Admirals goalie Chet Pickard (14-13-2) made 16 saves in the team’s third loss against the Stars. Texas begins a seven-game road trip in Rockford on Saturday, March 20th at 7:05 PM.

Texas opened the scoring just 22 seconds into a power-play opportunity, taking an early 1-0 lead at 4:00 of the first period. Center Aaron Gagnon tipped in a shot from defenseman Maxime Fortunus, beating Admirals goalie Chet Pickard on the stickside. Dan Jancevksi also assisted the forward’s team-leading 21st goal of the season. The Stars scored a second power-play goal at 13:45, increasing their lead to 2-0. Defenseman Andrew Hutchinson fired a shot from the right point past Pickard’s glove, tallying his seventh goal of the year. Forward Travis Morin and defenseman Garrett Stafford each added an assist on the power-play goal. Milwaukee cut Texas’ lead to 2-1 at 16:28, after winger Triston Grant found a loose puck in the Texas crease and lifted a shot past Stars goalie Brent Krahn.

In the second period, Texas extended its lead to 3-1 during a power play. Stars winger Francis Wathier recorded his 15th goal of the season after finding a rebound from Greg Rallo’s shot in the Admirals crease. Aaron Gagnon also assisted the power-play goal which came at 15:59.

At 15:25 of the third period, Stars forward Greg Rallo muscled a shot from the high slot past Pickard, bringing Texas to 4-1 over the Admirals. Rallo’s 19th goal of the year was unassisted. Milwaukee countered, scoring a pair of late goals just 1:22 apart. At 17:05, winger Andreas Thuresson received a backdoor feed from winger Hugh Jessiman in front of the net and beat Krahn, cutting Texas’ lead in half at 4-2. At 18:27, Jessiman received a pass from Thuresson in front of the net and added the Admiral’s third goal of the night for a 4-3 final score.

Texas will begin a 14-day and seven-game road trip in Rockford on Saturday, March 20th at 7:05 PM. The Stars travel to Peoria for a 3:00 PM game against the Rivermen on Sunday, March 21st. Texas return to Cedar Park on Friday, April 2nd to take on the San Antonio Rampage. The first 3,000 fans will receive a Texas Stars puck. Also on Friday, Cedar Park Center will provide $2.00 domestic drafts and $1.00 hot dogs. All games can be heard on the Stars flagship station ESPNAustin 104.9 FM “The Horn” or ESPNAustin 1530-AM.
