Nilstorp Shines In Texas 2-1 Comeback Victory In Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, WI – Cristopher Nilstorp had 24 saves on 25 shots and Colton Sceviour scored the game-winning goal in overtime as the Texas Stars beat the Milwaukee Admirals 2-1 Wednesday night at BMO Harris Bradley Center.

After a scoreless first period, the Admirals opened the scoring at 2:17 of the middle frame. Daniel Bang took a shot that was turned aside by the catching glove of Cristopher Nilstorp, but the rebound was collected by Austin Watson, who deposited the puck into the net for a 1-0 Milwaukee lead.

Once again Texas rallied in the third period and after Milwaukee was called for too-many men on the ice, Cody Eakin fired home a rebound from a Matt Fraser shot at 13:35 to tie the game. The goal was Eakin’s seventh of the season and it leveled him with Fraser for the Stars team lead. The Admirals made one last push for a regulation win when Maxime Fortunus was called for tripping with just under four minutes left, but once again the Stars penalty killers came up big to force overtime.

Texas created the only scoring chance in the four-on-four extra session, as right of the faceoff Reilly Smith raced into the Milwaukee zone and created an opportunity that was blocked by a defenseman in front. Then at 1:56 Colton Sceviour collected a rebound from a Tomas Vincour shot and deposited the game-winner to lift the Stars to a 2-1 overtime win. The assists on Sceviour’s team-leading third game-winning goal of the season went to Vincour and Jordie Benn.

Cristopher Nilstorp was outstanding in goal for Texas, finishing with 24 saves on 25 shots and took home first stars honors as he recorded his seventh win of the year. Jeremy Smith had a very solid night in goal for Milwaukee, stopping 24-of-26 shots as he took the loss. The Stars out-shot the Admirals 26-25 in the game and went 1-for-3 on the power play; Milwaukee was 0-for-3 on the man-advantage.
