Stars Host Houston on Monday at 7:00 pm at Cedar Park Center

Cedar Park, TX – The Texas Stars were defeated by the San Antonio Rampage 4-3 in a preseason game on Sunday night at the Cedar Park Center. Rampage forward Chad Kolarik led San Antonio with a goal and an assist. Texas received goals from forwards Perttu Lindgren, Travis Morin and Tyler Shelast in the loss. San Antonio goalie Al Montoya picked up the win with 33 saves. Stars’ goalie Brent Krahn suffered the defeat with 22 saves. Texas will host Houston on Monday at 7:00 pm at the Cedar Park Center.

San Antonio started the scoring 4:07 into the game. Forward Chad Kolarik capitalized off a turnover and beat Stars’ goalie Brent Krahn for the 1-0 Rampage lead. Texas countered at 13:46, right wing Mathieu Beaudoin set up Perttu Lindgren for his first goal with the Stars. Defenseman Matt Stephenson also was credited with an assist, tying the game 1-1. The Rampage scored late in the opening period to take a 2-1 lead. Winger Kyle Turris redirected a pass into the Stars’ net at 17:38 to push the Rampage back in front.

In the second period, San Antonio opened up a two-goal lead at 6:20 with a goal by Dan Sexton. Texas roared back to tie the game with two goals in forty seconds. Defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy sprung Tyler Shelast for a breakaway at 8:51. Shelast beat Al Montoya for the power-play goal, trimming the Rampage lead to 3-2. Texas tied the game 3-3 when Travis Morin redirected a centering pass from Michael Neal at 9:31. Rampage defenseman Jeff May finished the scoring for the period and the game at 17:11 of the second period. May blasted a slapshot through traffic from the blueline for the 4-3 lead and eventual victory.

Prior to the game, the Dallas Stars announced that defenseman Andrew Hutchinson has been assigned to the Texas Stars.

Texas will host one more preseason with Houston at the Cedar Park Center at 7:00 pm on Monday, September 27th. Texas will conclude its training camp schedule with “The Bud Light Battle of the Stars”, an exhibition game with the NHL’s Dallas Stars on Wednesday, September 30th at 7:00 pm at Cedar Park Center.

The Stars begin their Inaugural season on Friday, October 2nd at the AT&T Center in San Antonio against the Rampage at 7:00 pm. Texas will host the first regular season game in team history at 7:00 pm on Saturday, October 3rd at Cedar Park Center.

Tickets for the Stars 40 regular season home games at Cedar Park Center are on sale, starting as low as $9.00 a seat. Fans may also purchase seats to the remaining preseason game against Houston, as well as the “Bud Light Battle of the Stars” exhibition game with the Dallas Stars on Wednesday, September 30th at 7:00 pm. Individual gate prices for the historic match-up start as low as $15.00 per seat.
