RAMPAGE SLIP PAST STARS 3-2 IN OT
Texas Hosts Houston on Sunday at 5:00 P.M.

San Antonio, TX – The Texas Stars were defeated by the San Antonio Rampage 3-2 in overtime in a preseason game on Saturday at the Northwoods Ice Center. The Rampage scored twice over a three-minute span to tie the game and win in overtime, spoiling a 43-save performance by Texas goalie Billy Sauer. Defenseman Jace Coyle and left wing Patrick Galivan each scored for Texas in the loss. San Antonio center Greg Rallo scored the game-tying goal with 44 seconds remaining to force overtime. Rampage center Mark Cullen scored the game-winning goal halfway at 2:44 of overtime. San Antonio goalie Andrew Volkening relieved Tyler Plante after two periods of play, stopping all three Texas shots for the win. The Texas Stars face the Houston Aeros at 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at Cedar Park Center.

After a scoreless first period, Texas defenseman Jace Coyle notched the first goal of the game at 9:28 of the second period. Left wing Rob Bordson and defenseman Matt Case each assisted on the power-play goal to give the Stars a 1-0 lead. San Antonio responded at 11:34 with a goal by left wing Garrett Wilson. Right wing Bill Thomas helped with the goal to even the score 1-1.Texas left wing Patrick Galivan scored with 2:50 remaining in the second frame on the power play. Center Chad Klassen and defenseman Andrew Randazzo each provided an assist to put the Stars back in front 2-1.

San Antonio tied the game 2-2 with 44 seconds remaining in regulation with a goal by Greg Rallo. Defenseman Tyson Strachan and forward David Marshall each assisted on the play to send the game into overtime.

Rampage center Mark Cullen scored the game-winning goal 2:44 into overtime with help from Thomas and Strachan, pushing the Rampage past the Stars 3-2.

Texas will round out its preseason schedule by hosting the Houston Aeros at 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at Cedar Park Center. Tickets to the final preseason game at the Cedar Park Center are on sale.

The Texas Stars will host Opening Night at Cedar Park Center on Sunday, October 9th against the San Antonio Rampage at 5:00 pm. Every fan who attends the first regular season game of the year will receive a Texas Stars magnetic schedule compliments of Austin Telco Credit Union.
