OKLAHOMA CITY TAKES PRESEASON GAME 4-2 OVER TEXAS
Texas Stars Host Houston on Sunday


Cedar Park, TX – The Texas Stars were defeated by the Oklahoma City Barons 4-2 in a preseason game on Saturday night at Cedar Park Center. The Barons scored three unanswered goals in the third period to edge the Stars. Texas forwards Mathieu Tousignant and Francis Wathier each scored in the defeat. Stars center Colton Sceviour set up both Texas goals. Stars goalie Tyler Beskorowany suffered the loss with 20 saves. The Texas Stars close out their preseason schedule on Sunday at 5:00 pm with the Houston Aeros at Cedar Par Center.

Oklahoma City tallied the only goal in the first period, taking a 1-0 lead at 12:33. The Barons took advantage of a power play, with the first goal of the night coming off the stick of forward David Bonk. Oklahoma City’s Vladimir Nikiforov and Teemu Hartikainen both picked up an assist on the tally.

Texas tied it up with a goal off a two-on-one from Mathieu Tousignant at 13:10. The goal was assisted by Colton Sceviour. The Stars were able to rally back late in the second to take the lead with a goal by Francis Wathier, beating Oklahoma City goaltender Bryan Pitton. Sceviour earned his second assist of the night with hard play along the boards. The Stars led 2-1 after 40 minutes of play.

Oklahoma City came back in the third period with three unanswered goals. From the blueline, Mike Egener scored early in the frame at 3:27, a power-play goal that tied the game 2-2. Defenseman Anthony Aiello followed up with another power-play tally from the blueline at 9:16. Barons Mark Acrobello and Sean Erickson both assisted on the goal that pushed Oklahoma City in front 3-2. Oklahoma City finished the scoring when Jarret Lukin drove to the net and scored the Barons’ fourth goal of the night. Philippe Cornet and Egener assisted on the final goal of the evening at 11:18, for the 4-2 final.
