Texas to Host Houston at 7:30 PM on Tuesday

Cedar Park, TX – The Texas Stars (19-7-2-2, 42 points) were defeated by the Rockford IceHogs (15-13-2-1, 33 points) 3-2 in front of 5,192 fans at the Cedar Park Center on Saturday night. IceHogs right wing Pete McArthur scored at 12:44 of the second period, ending the Stars’ four-game winning skid against Rockford. Texas center Travis Morin recorded two assists, setting up both Texas goals. Stars goalie Richard Bachman (1-1-0) made 19 saves in the defeat. Rockford goalie Dan Cloutier (1-0-0) stopped 19 of 20 in the win. Texas will host Houston at 7:30 pm on Tuesday night.

Rockford jumped in front 5:17 into the first period with the first goal of the night. IceHogs forward Bracken Kearns scored his sixth goal of the year off a rebound, giving Rockford a 1-0 lead. Rockford made it 2-0 with a slapshot from the blueline by defenseman Richard Petiot at 15:59. The IceHogs defenseman scored his first goal of the year, beating Texas goalie Richard Bachman on the glove side.

In the second period, Texas cut the lead in half at 9:11 of the middle frame. Defenseman Garrett Stafford tallied a rebound goal, his third of the year, off a rebound of a Travis Morin shot. Defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy also picked up an assist on the power-play goal. Rockford regained its two-goal lead before the end of the period. Forward Pete MacArthur poked in a rebound at 12:44, scoring his third of the year and giving the IceHogs the 3-1 lead.

Texas right wing Mathieu Beaudoin pulled the Stars within a goal just 1:53 into the final period. Beaudoin scored his seventh goal in the last six games off a cross-ice pass from Perttu Lindgren, bringing Texas within a goal at 3-2.

The Stars conclude their four-game home stand with Houston at 7:30 PM on Tuesday night at Cedar Park Center. Texas will play a road game in Houston on Friday, Dec. 18 at 7:35 PM, prior to returning home to host Grand Rapids on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 7:00 PM. On the 18th, the first 3,000 fans receive a Texas Stars Christmas Ornament. The team will hold its first Teddy Bear Toss, where fans may bring stuffed animals to throw on the ice for charity.
