HOUSTON SNEAKS PAST TEXAS WITH A 3-2 SHOOTOUT WIN
Texas Stars Host the NHL’s Dallas Stars Wednesday at 7:00 pm at the Cedar Park Center


Cedar Park, TX – The Texas Stars were defeated by the Houston Aeros 3-2 in a shootout on Monday night at the Cedar Park Center. Despite making 35 saves, Texas goalie Matt Climie took the preseason loss. Houston’s Peter Zingoni sealed the Aeros win in the shootout, beating Climie to end the game. Defenseman Brandon Straub and center Kevin DeVergilio each scored in the Texas loss. Houston’s Gregg Johnson and Chad Rau each scored in the Aeros’ win. Houston goalie Wade Dubielewicz picked up the win with 24 saves in regulation. Texas will host the NHL’s Dallas Stars Wednesday at 7:00 pm at the Cedar Park Center.


After a scoreless first period, Texas got on the board with 7:33 left in the second period. Defenseman Brandon Straub took a slapshot from the blueline that deflected off the glove of Houston goalie Wade Dubielewicz and into the Houston net for the 1-0 lead. The Aeros answered back thirty seconds later as forward Chad Rau scored off a rebound at 8:57, knotting the game 1-1.


In the third period, Stars’ center Kevin DeVergilio, scored off a rebound of a Greg Rallo shot, giving Texas a 2-1 lead at 8:11 of the final period. Houston countered less than a minute later as Greg Johnson beat Matt Climie to tie the game 2-2.


The two teams would remain scoreless for the remainder of the period and overtime, forcing a shootout to decide the winner. Houston scored on three of four chances, while Texas netted one goal in four chances.

Texas will conclude its’ training camp schedule with “The Bud Light Battle of the Stars”, an exhibition game with the NHL’s Dallas Stars on Wednesday, September 30th at 7:00 pm at Cedar Park Center.

The Stars begin their Inaugural season on Friday, October 2nd at the AT&T Center in San Antonio against the Rampage at 7:00 pm. Texas will host the first regular season game in team history at 7:00 pm on Saturday, October 3rd at Cedar Park Center.

Tickets for the Stars 40 regular season home games at Cedar Park Center are on sale, starting as low as $9.00 a seat. Fans may also purchase seats to the “Bud Light Battle of the Stars” exhibition game with the Dallas Stars on Wednesday, September 30th at 7:00 pm. Individual gate prices for the historic match-up start as low as $15.00 per seat.
