GRIFFINS END STARS STREAK, BEAT TEXAS 4-1
Stars Continue Five-Game Road Swing in Rockford on Saturday

Grand Rapids, MI – The Texas Stars (13-3-2-2, 30 points) were defeated by the Grand Rapids Griffins (11-5-0-0, 22 points) 4-1 on Friday night in front of 7,087 fans at the Van Andel Arena. Four different Griffins scored in the victory, ending the Stars streak of 12 games without a regulation loss. Texas center Colton Sceviour scored the lone goal in the loss, as Texas dropped its’ second game in regulation in the last 19. Stars goalie Matt Climie (4-2-4) suffered the defeat, finishing with 32 saves. Grand Rapids goalie Daniel Larsson (6-2-0) picked up the win, stopping 24 of 25 Texas shots. Texas will play the fourth game of five straight on the road, Saturday night in Rockford at 7:05 pm.

After a scoreless first period, the two teams combined to score four goals in the second period. The Griffins started the scoring just 1:53 into the middle frame. Forward Jan Mursak tipped a slapshot past Texas goalie Matt Climie for his fifth goal of the year and a 1-0 Grand Rapids lead. The Stars countered to tie the game at 6:37 with a power-play goal by Colton Sceviour. Defenseman Andrew Hutchinson found Sceviour in the left-wing circle, who beat Griffins goalie Daniel Larsson for his third goal of the season and a 1-1 tie. The Griffins stormed back with a pair of goals before the end of the period to take a 3-1 lead. Forward Patrick Rissmiller played the puck off a Texas defender and into the Stars net for his fourth goal of the year and a 2-1 Griffins lead at 9:24. Grand Rapids made it a two-goal game at 12:29. Griffins leading scorer, Kris Newbury scored off a rebound in the Texas crease, giving Grand Rapids a 3-1 lead after two periods of play.

Grand Rapids defenseman Jakub Kindl added a late goal with 3:32 remaining in the third period to make it 4-1 Griffins.

Texas continues a five-game road swing Saturday, November 21st at Rockford at 7:05 pm. Texas will return home to host the Milwaukee Admirals on Wednesday, November, 25th at 7:30 and then again on Friday, November, 27th at 7:30 pm. Cedar Park Center will host College Discount Night, providing $2.00 domestic drafts and $1.00 hot dogs. Fans who present a college ID will receive a discount for either game. On Friday, the first 3,000 fans will receive a Texas Stars t-shirt.
