DALLAS STARS ASSIGN WATHIER AND FORTUNUS
Texas Stars Play at San Antonio Thursday, Host Games This Saturday and Sunday



Cedar Park, TX – The Dallas Stars announced on Wednesday that the club has assigned defenseman Maxime Fortunus and left wing Francis Wathier to the Texas Stars, Dallas’ AHL Affiliate.



Fortunus, 26, made his NHL debut with Dallas last season, recording four penalty minutes in eight games. He spent the majority of the season with the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League (AHL), skating in 72 games and recording 23 points (11g,12a).



The 6-1, 198-pound defenseman helped Texas reach the Calder Cup Finals in the club’s inaugural season in the AHL, playing in 24 playoff games and tallying nine points (2g,7a). The La Prairie, Quebec, native was originally signed as a free agent by Dallas on July 3, 2008.



Wathier, 25, made his NHL debut with Dallas last season, recording four shots and five penalty minutes in five games with the Stars. He spent the majority of 2009-10 with the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League (AHL), skating in 76 games and collecting 40 points (19g, 21a) with 101 penalty minutes. The St. Isidore, Ontario native also played 24 playoff games with Texas, tallying eight points (2g, 6a).

The 6-4, 225-pound left wing has played in 240 career AHL games and has scored 41 goals and 38 assists with 349 penalty minutes. Wathier was drafted in the sixth round (185th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

The Texas Stars have opened selected practices at Cedar Park Center to the general public. Fans may catch the game-day skate on Thursday morning at Cedar Park Center, prior to the team’s first preseason game at San Antonio. The final practice open to the public will be on Friday, October 1st at 12:00 pm. Fans will be able to park and gain entrance to the arena on the north side of the building, via the State Farm Plaza entrance.

Individual tickets for all games are on sale now, including Opening Weekend on October 16th and 17th, as well as both home preseason games on October 2nd and 3rd. Tickets are available online at www.TexasStarsHockey.com or by calling 512.GO.STARS (467.8277).

The Western Conference Champion Texas Stars will host their first regular season home game at Cedar Park Center on Saturday, October 16th. Season ticket packages to see the Stars play in their second season at the Cedar Park Center are on sale now.
