DALLAS STARS ASSIGN LUKOWICH AND MORIN
Texas Stars Begin Training Camp Monday, Hit the Ice Tuesday


Cedar Park, TX – The Dallas Stars announced on Monday that the club has assigned defenseman Brad Lukowich and center Travis Morin to the Texas Stars, Dallas’ AHL Affiliate.

Lukowich split the 2009-10 season between the Texas Stars and the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks. In 13 games with Vancouver, the Cranbrook, BC native scored once and added an assist for two points. Prior to Vancouver, Lukowich helped Texas post one of the best records in the AHL at the time of his call-up on New Year’s Day (20-11-2-4). The veteran played in 29 games for the Stars, scoring three goals and setting up 15 others for 18 points.

Lukowich is a veteran of 894 professional games, including 653 in the NHL for Dallas, Vancouver, Tampa Bay, New York (Islanders), San Jose Sharks and the New Jersey Devils. The 34-year old won a Stanley Cup with Dallas in 1999 and with Tampa Bay in 2004. The New York Islanders drafted him in the fourth round (#90 overall) of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.

Morin was second on the team in scoring for Texas during the regular season with 21 goals and 31 assists for 52 points in 80 games played. Morin played in 24 Calder Cup Playoff games, helping the Stars win the Western Conference and finish two wins shy of the Calder Cup. The 26-year old scored four goals and dished out 12 assists for 16 points in the playoffs.

The Brooklyn Park, MN native was drafted in the ninth round (#263 overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals.

The Texas Stars will report to Training Camp on Monday and have physicals prior to the first practice of the 2010-11 season at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 28th at Cedar Park Center.

The Texas Stars have opened selected practices at Cedar Park Center to the general public; practices and scrimmages on Tuesday and Wednesday will be open for fans to get their first glimpse of the 2010-11 Stars. Fans may also catch the game-day skate on Thursday morning at Cedar Park Center, prior to the team’s first preseason game at San Antonio. The final practice open to the public will be on Friday, October 1st. Fans will be able to park and gain entrance to the arena on the north side of the building, via the State Farm Plaza entrance.

The Western Conference Champion Texas Stars will host their first regular season home game at Cedar Park Center on Saturday, October 16th.
