Second Year Goaltender Will Report for Duty in Cedar Park Tuesday
CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced today that Dallas has assigned goaltender Jack Campbell to Texas.
Campbell, 21, returns to Texas for his second full professional season. The Port Huron, Michigan native posted a 19-12-4 record in 40 AHL games for the Stars in 2012-13, with a 2.65 goals-against average (GAA) and a 0.905 save percentage (SV%). This summer Campbell was on Dallas’ roster for the 2013 NHL Prospects Tournament in Traverse City, Michigan, winning both of his starts and making 45 saves on 48 shots faced, for a 1.50 GAA and a 0.938 SV% to lead the Stars to a third place finish. He appeared in one NHL pre-season game for Dallas this year, stopping 14-of-17 shots in 34:10 of action and blocked one-of-two shootout attempts in a 6-5 shootout loss to the St. Louis Blues on September 16th. Campbell was drafted by Dallas in the first round (11th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Texas’ training camp roster now stands at 22 players, including three goaltenders, six defensemen and 13 forwards. Camp begins on Tuesday, September 24th with players reporting to Cedar Park Center for physicals.
