Sneep Acquired From Pittsburgh in Trade for Draft Pick
CEDAR PARK, TX – The Texas Stars, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced today that Dallas has assigned defenseman Carl Sneep to Texas.
Sneep, 25, was acquired by Dallas Thursday from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. The St. Louis Park, Minn., native has skated in 29 games this season for the Wheeling Nailers, Pittsburgh's ECHL affiliate, recording a plus-12 rating and 15 points (3 goals, 12 assists), which ranked third among all Nailers defensemen in scoring. Sneep also skated in one AHL game this season for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and has appeared in 102 career AHL games with the Baby Pens, posting 27 points (4 goals, 23 assists), 65 penalty minutes and a plus-22 rating. He played four years of NCAA Division I college hockey for Boston College of Hockey East, helping the Eagles win two National Championships in 2008 and 2010. He appeared in 157 career NCAA games with Boston College and tallied 64 points (17 goals, 47 assists) and 75 penalty minutes. Sneep was drafted by Pittsburgh in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and made his NHL debut with the Penguins on December 17, 2011 against the Buffalo Sabres, notching an assist for his first career NHL point, a plus-one rating and recording 16:19 of ice time.
Texas will complete its six-game road trip on Friday, January 25th with a 7:30 p.m. faceoff against the San Antonio Rampage at AT&T Center. The Stars return home on Saturday, January 26th to square off with the San Antonio Rampage at 7:00 p.m. at Cedar Park Center.
