Dallas Stars Agree To Terms With Travis Morin and Colton Sceviour
Big Club Inks two Texas Stars

Cedar Park, TX – The Dallas Stars announced on Thursday that the club has agreed to terms with center Travis Morin on a two-year, two-way contract ($525,000 at the NHL level; $125,000 at the minor league level; with a minimum guarantee of $150,000 each year), putting him under contract through the 2012-13 season. Right wing Colton Sceviour has agreed to a one-year, two-way contract ($525,000; $75,000).

Morin, 26, appeared in 64 games with the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season, ranking second on the club in points with 45 (21 goals, 24 assists). He also led the club in scoring during the playoffs with seven points (3g, 4a). Morin made his NHL debut in 2010-11 with Dallas after dressing in three games and recording two shots.

The Brooklyn Park, Minn., native skated in 80 games with the Texas Stars in 2009-10, tying the club lead in assists (31) and totaling 52 points. Morin helped Texas reach the Calder Cup finals in the spring of 2010, posting four goals and 12 assists in 24 games. The 6-2, 195-pound center was originally drafted in the ninth round (263rd overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by Washington.

Sceviour, 22, skated in 77 games last season for the Texas Stars, ranking third on the club in points with 41 (16g, 25a). He also skated in six games for Texas during the AHL playoffs, scoring one goal. The Red Deer, Alb., native made his NHL debut with Dallas on Feb. 5, 2011, at Philadelphia.

The 6-0, 201-pound right wing helped the Texas Stars reach the Calder Cup Finals in the club’s inaugural season in 2009-10. Sceviour skated in 80 games, tallying 31 points (9g, 22a), during the regular season and 24 contests, accruing eight points (1g, 7a), during the playoffs. He was selected by Dallas in the fourth round (112nd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

The two players are tied for the Texas Stars all-time record of 138 consecutive regular season games played. Both skaters had their personal streaks ended due to their first NHL call-up. Sceviour is Texas’ all-time leader in games played with 157. Morin is tied for fourth overall in games played at (144). He also is the team’s all-time leader with 55 assists and is second in all-time scoring with 97 points, one back of the club’s all-time leader Greg Rallo.
