Dallas Recalls Matt Fraser & Jordie Benn

NHL Stars Send Tom Wandell & Tomas Vincour to Texas

CEDAR PARK, TX – The Texas Stars, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced today that Dallas has recalled left wing Matt Fraser and defenseman Jordie Benn to the NHL club.  Dallas also returned right wing Tomas Vincour on loan to Texas and assigned center Tom Wandell to its AHL-affiliate on a conditioning loan.

Fraser, 22, receives his first call up to Dallas of the season. The Red Deer, Alberta, native is tied for third in the AHL in goals (24) and leads the league with 13 power play goals. Earlier this season, Fraser was selected to represent the Western Conference at the 2013 AHL All-Star Game after posting a team-leading 35 points (24 goals, 11 assist) for Texas in 51 games so far this season. The 6-foot-1 left wing played his first career NHL contest last season on Jan. 24, 2012 against the Anaheim Ducks. Fraser went undrafted and was signed as a free agent on Nov. 17, 2010.

Benn, 25 is recalled to Dallas for the second time this year. The Victoria, British Columbia, native was originally recalled on January 13th for the post-lockout NHL training camp and has played in eight games for Dallas so far this season, recording no points and four penalty minutes. Benn has played in 40 AHL games for Texas this season where he ranks second amongst defenseman with 21 points (7 goals, 14 assists) and has a plus-seven rating.  He shares the Texas team lead in game-winning goals (3) and is second in power play goals (5). The 6-foot-1, 240-pound defenseman has played 11 career NHL games, recording two assists, four penalty minutes and eight shots. Benn went undrafted and was signed by Dallas as a free agent on July 25, 2012.

Wandell, 26, has played in seven games for Dallas this season and has no points and four penalty minutes. The Sodertalje, Sweden, native was drafted by the Stars in the fifth round (146th overall) of the 2005 NHL entry draft and has appeared in 218 career NHL games with Dallas, posting 42 points (19 goals, 23 assists) and 42 penalty minutes. Since his entrance into the league in 2008-09, the Stars have won 14-of-17 games (14-2-1 record) when he records a goal. Wandell’s first AHL action came during the 2007-08 season, his first in North America, with the Iowa Stars where he registered 19 points (10 goals, 9 assists) and 16 penalty minutes in 53 AHL games. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound center has not played in the AHL since the 2007-08 season.

Vincour, 22, appeared in eight NHL games for Dallas and had one goal and two penalty minutes since being recalled from Texas on January 24th. The Brno, Czech Republic, native has skated in 39 AHL games for Texas this season earning 19 points (7 goals, 12 assists) with a plus-4 rating. Now in his third season with the organization, Vincour has posted six goals and seven assists, totaling 13 points in 79 career NHL games. The 6-foot-2 forward is one of only six players born in Brno, Czech Republic, to skate in an NHL contest and one of only two to earn over 10 career points. Vincour was Dallas' fifth-round selection (129th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The Stars will begin a seven-day, four-game road trip on Wednesday, February 20th against the Rochester Americans at 6:05 p.m. CST at Blue Cross Arena.
