BACHMAN AND STARS TAME DOGS, WIN 5-0
Stars Play in Syracuse on Wednesday Night

Hamilton, Ontario – The Texas Stars (30-18-3-4, 67 points) defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs (34-14-3-5, 76 points) 5-0 on Tuesday night in front of 2,551 fans at Copps Coliseum. Defenseman Andrew Hutchinson led the charge with a goal and two assists, as Texas erupted with four goals in the second period and cruised to a victory over the top team in the Western Conference. Rookie goalie Richard Bachman (2-1-0) stopped 17 shots for his first AHL shutout. Center Warren Peters, right wing Mathieu Beaudoin and right wing Raymond Sawada each had multi-point games, as Texas started its’ five-game road trip with a convincing victory. Defenseman Trevor Ludwig, Peters, Beaudoin and center Aaron Gagnon also scored, as the Stars improved to 14-8-2-2 on the road this season. Texas will play in Syracuse at 6:00 PM on Wednesday.

Texas scored the lone goal in the first period, breaking a scoreless tie at 14:42 with a power-play tally. Center Warren Peters found a loose puck in the Hamilton crease and flipped it by Cedrick Desjardins for the 1-0 Texas lead. Forwards Raymond Sawada and Colton Sceviour assisted on Peters’ 14th goal of the season.

In the second period, the Stars expanded their lead with a four-goal outburst. Texas took a 2-0 lead at 5:59 as defenseman Andrew Hutchinson beat Desjardins with a one-timer. Forward Mathieu Beaudoin set up the feed to finish off a two-on-one rush, feeding Hutchinson for his fifth goal of the year. Just 1:18 later, the Stars struck for a power-play goal by Aaron Gagnon at 7:17. Left wing Francis Wathier snapped a shot from the left circle that was stopped by Desjardins, but the rebound was put in by Gagnon for his 12th goal of the year and a 3-0 Texas lead. Hamilton pulled goalie Cedrick Desjardins after the goal, ending his night with 27:17 of work and 17 saves on 20 Texas shots. The Stars would continue their scoring barrage at 11:08 on goalie Curtis Sanford. Defenseman Trevor Ludwig worked a give-n-go with right wing Ray Sawada. Ludwig finished the play for his third goal of the year and a 4-0 Stars lead. Texas concluded its second-period scoring with the team’s third power-play tally of the night. Right wing Mathieu Beaudoin snapped a shot that deflected off a Hamilton defender and into the Bulldogs net at 18:21. Beaudoin’s 13th of the year was set up by Hutchinson and Perttu Lindgren for a five-goal Texas lead.

Texas continues a five-game road trip at Syracuse on Wednesday, February 17th at 6:00 PM. The Stars travel to Toronto on Friday, February 19th for a game at 6:00 PM. The team returns home on Friday, February 26th at 7:30 PM to host the Houston Aeros in the State Farm Lone Star Faceoff.
